How I created my first website for free

Yes, you can create your own cool websites for free and with almost no code using tools such as wix, wordpress. I created my website using wix.

To get started click on the link of my website here -> “https://divyakhatnar.wixsite.com/website/about” and select the button on the top bar “Start Now” and follow along:

Step 1. Enter the email address that you would like or login using gmail account, after that you will redirected to “Get Started” page. Hit the button depending on whether the website will be for you or your client. This article is about creating for self by self :).

Step 2. Now directly choose what type of website you would like your website to be (I am taking Blog as an example).

Step 3. Add your brand name, it could be your name as well.

Step 4. When building the website for yourself you will be redirected to “Goals of this website” page, select whatever goal you would like to achieve using this website and then you will be directed to feature page.

Step 5. Click “Start now” button. If you are building for your own, once the next pages loads asking you if you want to load a website from another source you can click “Skip” to skip the step and you will be asked to review your information, edit, confirm and hit next.

Step 6. Pick a theme for your website (I am choosing Vogue). Next you will asked to pick homepage design or you can skip it (I didn’t skip). Then you will have to add pages to your website. Click Edit Pages. If you are happy with layout of all the pages you can right away hit “Publish” button, your website will be all ready for the world. If not…

Step 7. If you choose to improvise on the layout of the page then hover on any page and you will see 2 buttons showing “Edit” and “Design” respectively. Click on Edit button and you can change all the text on the page or buttons on the page. If you wish to change the appearance of the page then click “Design” and you will be able to do. Pick and choose whichever resonates with your ideas the most and hit publish.

Step 8. Finally, you will be asked to fill in your website domain name aka the url of your website. If you want you can connect your domain, if you have already, if not you can edit the Free Wix.com domain and hit “Publish and Continue”. You will be all set.

Step 9. Once you have your website up and running you can also make changes to your website in real — this is also drag and drop feature that you can take advantage. All you have to do is login to “https://manage.wix.com/” with your email password that you used to create account and click Edit and there you go — you can start editing and updating your website. Once you hit “Publish” you will able to see the new changes being reflected in your website immediately.
