Switching careers is not easy, neither is starting a new career. Where to start, how to take the next steps, what to do next. So much to do and so less time. Feeling the anxiety is pretty normal. That’s okay, time will anyways pass. All what is in your hands is the following list, take a moment and read to start your journey in the tech world :
1) Find a programming language that you are most comfortable with. For example Python can be a good start.

2) Understand how programming language works and its good to understand how computer works. This will enable you think systematically.

3) Practice lots of algorithms. Not only it is good for cracking interviews, it will help you sharpen your logical brain as well. Read out loud your solutions and your thought process always.

Tip: Often during interviews, interviewers ask to explain your code and the approach. Reading your solutions and thought process during practice sessions will bring you in that flow and you can gain that skill.

4) Tech jobs are not limited to just coding jobs, you can do your research — jobs such as Program manager, DevOps, SecOps and many more fields.

5) Build your portfolio. Its okay to make projects that already have been made. There is difference that you will create once you make the project. Not only will you learn more about the technologies you use, you will gain confidence of building something on your own.

6) Have theoretical if not practical information on how IT sector works.

7) If you are not sure, go for a diploma or any kind of degree or certifications. Try for volunteering opportunities to gain experience as much as you can.

8) Try contacting or enter IT sector in less technical role, understand the business and the project and move internally.

9) Attend tech conferences, leverage social media to network and grow your connections. A connection can be greater asset than you can ever imagine.

Tip: You can watch some youtubers doing live coding as well. Don’t be discouraged how they can do and you cannot. Just try to understand how they solved the problem.

10) Very important — Talk to people who are in tech and how they got that job, what kind of work they do and what problems they solve.
